Vintage

I'm offering a limited number of vintage style instruments. These guitars are built in the traditional manner of the 1920's and 30's and are based on plans from actual instruments of that era. The first of these is a 00-42 in Adirondack/Brazilian Rosewood. Other sizes available are 000 amd 0M in all levels of trim. If vintage is your passion, let's explore the possibilities.

00-13

If you've never played a 13 fret guitar, you're in for a real treat. The 00 size body combined with the extra accessbility that the 13 fret affords is a favorite for many players. It really hits the "Sweet Spot" between the traditional 12 and 14 fret positions. Available in either 24.9" or 25.4" scales with either slot head or paddle-head. Shown in Adirondack/Mahogany with a full sunburst.

Ordering Information

The construction of a handmade guitar is a true collaborative effort between the player and the luthier. It requires a great deal of communication between the player and the builder and always requires many calls, emails, and sometimes even personal visits.

Once all the design criteria has been completed and the wood selections have been made, a $500.00 non-refundable deposit is required. The balance is due upon completion of the guitar and prior to shipment. Applicable taxes, insurance, and shipping costs are in addition to the price of the guitar.

Caldwell Guitars are warranted to the original owner for my life as an active luthier. If for any reason, you are unhappy with your guitar, you may return it within 10 days for a full refund (less initial deposit) subject to the sale of the guitar. Non-Standard body shapes, custom inlays, or other one-of-a-kind features void this part of the warranty. Minor adjustments are also included in this warranty and are performed at no charge. (Shipping & Insurance are not included).

Guitars may be commisioned directly from me or through John Reynolds at Golden Age Fretted Instuments.

Please call or e-mail me with any questions you may have regarding the craft of Lutherie whether it involves one of my guitars or not. I’ll be happy to talk to you. Hopefully, I’ll be able to answer your question, or at the very least, put you in touch with someone who can. Thanks for taking the time to visit my site.
